I'm Listening To...

Music has always played a huge role in my life thanks, first to my brothers, and then to other music lovers and musicians in my life.

Unfortunately, my life is so expansive these days, I have not been able to keep up with current music, and as my tastes leans towards alternative music, I've been out of touch. But every now and then I song I like goes main stream and I can't get it out of my head.

I'm Currently Crushing On...

Somebody That I Used to Know

As a writer, I've always been drawn to lyric-driven songs and when I first heard Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know, the messge resonated with me immediately. So simple, yet so brilliant.

It was long after first hearing the song that I discovered one of the most insightful lyricists of our generation, Elliott Smith, had first written a song with this title.

The Gotye song is NOT a cover, but I'm sure the band must have been inspired by Smith's concept.
